The Neuro-ophthalmology Clinic is run every Thursday in Room No.102. Patient with optic neuritis, traumatic optic neuropathy, anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, compressive optic neuropathy, nutritional and toxic neuropathy, papilledema or optic atrophy secondary to intracranial pathologies, retinitis pigmentosa are routinely managed in this clinic. Neuro-ophthalmic evaluation of patients with neurosurgical ailments is being done. Patients with malingering, ethambutol, toxicity, methanol poisoning, advanced diabetic retinopathy, retained intraocular foreign body, advanced glaucoma, retinal degenerations and cases of corneal opacity being taken up for corneal transplantation are evaluated objectively via electrophysiological tests, when required. Objective assessment of visual functions of patients is done, when required, in collaboration with the Neurosurgery Department of G.B. Pant Hospital & Pediatric Department of Loknayak Jaiprakash Hospital. Electrophysiology investigations like VEP (flash & pattern), flash & pattern ERG, EOG and EMG are being carried out. Visual field charting is being done via Humphrey visual field analyzer to pick out the visual field defects in neuro-ophthalmic conditions.
